From the moment I sat down with Amy & Nate last September, I knew that styling and planning their wedding would be something special. They had already booked their venue, Cafe Brauer, and their DJ, Megan Taylor of Fig Media. That killer venue/vendor combo paired with Amy & Nate’s fun, easy going personalities, convinced me that this was going to be a wedding to remember, and one that I was just so excited to design and plan.
When styling this chic spring soiree, our biggest source of inspiration was absolutely the venue. Amy & Nate loved the “art-deco,” eclectic feel of Cafe Brauer; the chandeliers, the natural look of the brick walls, and the fact that it was something different. With Amy & Nate being from DC, and a good percentage of their guests coming from all over the country, this was going to very much be a “destination wedding.” With that in mind, another huge source of inspiration was Chicago! Amy grew up in Chicago, and wanted to make sure guests got the full “Chicago experience” – From their hotel (W Lakeshore) with the most stunning view of Lake Michigan, their rehearsal dinner at Lou Malnati’s, and their late night snacks (hot dogs!) from Blue Plate, this wedding definitely did Chicago proud. And last but definitely not least, I drew so much inspiration from Amy & Nate’s personalities to make sure the weekend wasn’t just any other “wedding weekend,” but a weekend that guests would recognize as Amy & Nate’s ultimate wedding weekend, or #WeissBestFest ;). I knew that they were both incredibly close with their families, so making everything feel very warm, welcoming, and intimate was #1, and I also knew that they wanted everyone to leave thinking about how much fun they had (or not want to leave at all!).
