Over the past few months, Shannon has had the honor and privilege of being a part of the Wish Upon a Wedding Chicago board.  As Marketing Chair, her mission has been to broaden the reach of  Wish Upon A Wedding, and to educate on how the process works. The deeper people understand the functionality of the organization, the easier it is to find a way to get involved.  If you don’t follow the Wish Upon a Wedding – Chicago Facebook page, today we are catching you up on all things Wish Upon a Wedding, in the form of a Q&A with Shannon!

Q: What is Wish Upon a Wedding?

A: Wish Upon a Wedding is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization granting weddings and vow renewals for couples facing serious illness or a life-altering circumstance. WUW is a national organization that grants wishes all over the country with the assistance of local city chapters.

Q: What is one thing you’d like to accomplish this year as Marketing Chair of WUW Chicago?

A: I see my role as Marketing Chair as an opportunity to educate people not only on the mission of Wish Upon A Wedding, but also the processes, as well as broaden our reach and help the organization reach more deserving couples.

Q: How can I get involved?

A:  From broadening our reach into the community with board committees to opportunities to participate in events with our current members, there are many avenues to get involved with the organization. Our annual Gala is this coming Monday, November 7th and is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased here. You can also follow us on Facebook for the latest opportunities or contact chicagomarketing@wishuponawedding.org

Q: Can you give us some inside scoop?  What are you most excited for for the rest of 2016 and going into 2017?

A: 2016 has been an amazing year for the Chicago Chapter as we have granted the organization’s 100th wish this past weekend (October 23rd), which you can read more about here & here. We are also hosting the annual Gala on November 7th in celebration of an amazing year and the 100th wish!

Q: What has been your favorite part about being a part of this charity?

A: Having the opportunity to work closely with such inspiring couples has been a truly humbling and emotional experience for me. The strength and love of our recipients shows us all what is truly important in life, and having the opportunity to connect such deserving individuals with selfless and giving wedding professionals has been a joy.
